The Landais Pony

Landais originating in the south-west of France, seems to have been cross during centuries with Arab standards, Anglo-arabes or Barbs. Some were cross with the Spanish race of Navarre and, towards the end of XIXe or beginning of the XXe century, with one of the old races of Brittany.

The population of Landais ponies is located mainly in the district of Pau, cradle of origin, the Paris area and in the Midday-Pyrenees.

Rustic animal, accustomed to the life of full air, it adapts to all the climates. Horse having a good endurance, it is used in equestrian tourism for the excursions and the walks, and makes a good horse of competition for the young people. It is also an excellent harnessed pony.

Fine and elegant pony, resembling an Arab in miniature, of size ranging between 1,18 and 1,47 Mr. the head is square, fine and dries, the small and pointed ears, the thick neck at the base, the oblique shoulder. The back and the kidney are short and right, the well left garrot, the swallowed croup. Its population is however a little heterogeneous. The dress is black, bay or alezane.​
