It is in Iran that you will find this horse the most easily. Tchenaran is the product of a standard of the Persan plate and a Turkmène brood mare, same manner that a mule is the product of a mare and an ass or that an Anglo-Arab comes from the crossing between a Thorough-bred and an Arab. That wants to say that generally, one does not couple Tchenarans between them, because their offspring would not have same qualities as the parents.
However, and this curiously, the crossing between a mare of the Persan plate and a standard turkmene do not give a as good foal as the crossings in the other direction. Tchenarans, which exists since the XVIII ème century, are excellent saddle horses, splendid, daring, adapting easily and formerly, they were extremely required by the cavalry for their endurance, their robustness and their good character. Tchenaran is related with the Arab of the Desert.

Valiant, of goodwill, credit enduring and flexible are as many qualities as has Tchenaran. It has an elegant head and expressive range on a curved neck, good inclined shoulders, the prominent garrot, a compact body, good kidneys and a strong croup. The paces are right and elegant.
