With 27 points Exell (AUS) leads the qualifiers, with team World Champion Koos de Ronde (NED) next on 25 points, and Hungarian driver Jozsef Dobrovitz (24), Swiss ex-World Champion Werner Ulrich (22), Dutch team World Champion Ijsbrand Chardon (21) and Sweden's ex-World Champion Tomas Eriksson (17). Chardon and Eriksson secured their places in the final with the top two places at the seventh and last qualifying event in Bordeaux, France.
In the same event Swiss driver Daniel Würgler - winner of the World Cup qualifier 2010 in Leipzig - was unlucky to "cone" a total of three times in the speed competition with obstacles over two rounds, therefore losing his place in the final field.
The only wild card can be given to a driver from the host country Germany. The four-in-hand drivers Christian Plücker, Georg von Stein and Michael Brauchle will be competing for the final start place under the watchful eye of the German national trainer Ewald Meier during a knock-out in Warendorf on February 20.
"From our perspective, the best driver should also receive a chance in Leipzig," Meier said
