The horse Mexicain east seems it, a mixture of races living in the wild state in North America and of the South. It results from blood Andalou, Arab, Criollo and Mustang, and goes down from the horses of the conquistadors. Robust animal, resistant, adapted afterwards centuries of natural selection to the hard climate, it shows itself rather fast and flexible to be appropriate for the work of the ranch and sufficiently courageous to face a bull in the arena.

The indigenous Mexican is a small saddle horse of the variable type, but whose fundamental characteristics are a light framework, good shoulders, a short back, kidneys and a powerful croup, hard and solid legs and sour feet.​
