Senckenberg, along with his wife, Verena, is being hosted by the New Zealand Hanoverian Society during his stay, which starts on February 5 with a visit to Patumahoe stud Henton Lodge.
After touring several studs in the North Island, Senckenburg will head the commission at Hanoverian Grand Parade day on February 13 at Abderry Farm, in South Auckland.
Senckenberg, who has a degree in agriculture, currently runs an equestrian facility alongside 220ha of cropping land in Germany. He was also a successful competitor in the disciplines of eventing, show jumping and dressage.
He has been, from 1995, involved with the Hessian Horse Breeding Association, being President until 2005. At this time the Hessian and Hanoverian Associations merged and Senckenburg retained the office of President of the district society.
At the Grand Parade on February 13, mares will be classified for acceptance into the Hanoverian Studbook and young stock will be on display.
