A new collector's edition of DVDs features 14 horse stories produced for the international market by New Zealand-based production company NHNZ.

"Horse Tales and Other Stories" is an eight-hour long collection comprising three DVDs, and includes the acclaimed "Horse Tales" series that mesmerised viewers when it was first screened in 1997.
The manager of new content at NHNZ, Caroline Cook, says the Horse Tales series features a variety of horse breeds including thoroughbreds, arabians, mustangs, Kaimanawa wild horses, shetlands, lusitanos and quarter horses.
It covers many disciplines - from racing to polo, steeplechasing to stunt and circus acts.
"But above all it portrays the incredible connection between man and horse," says Cook, herself a horse lover.
"When I discovered that this series had been made for the international market but never aired in New Zealand, I wanted to share these stories with other New Zealand horse-lovers."
Ms Cook then found two other programmes which were added to the collection.
"Twisted Tales: the Horse" tells the story of how the horse survived because man put it to work and "Wild Horses: Return to China" is the story of 27 endangered Przewalski wild horses raised in captivity and returned to the wilds of China.
"The cutest story has to be about the young rider aiming to win the Shetland Grand National, while the story about horse whisperer Monty Roberts who retrains a gate-shy racehorse in an attempt to save its life is incredibly moving," she says.
The collection went on sale last week through selected retailers and online stores. It can also be ordered online at www.nhnz.tv/dvds
