In France, the Classics of horse racing are a series of Group One Thoroughbred horse races run annually on the flat. The four races are organized by France Galop.
The Prix de Diane is restricted to filles.
Only Le Pacha in 1941 and Peintre Celebre in 1997 have won all three of the Classic Races open to colts.

Japanese Classic Races
In horse racing in Japan, The Classics are a series of horse races run over the flat. Each classic is run once each year and is restricted to horses that are three years old.

American Classic Races
The American Classic Races consist of:
* 1) Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky held annually on the first Saturday of May;
* 2) Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland held annually in May on the Saturday two weeks after the Kentucky Derby;
* 3) Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York held annually in June on the Saturday three weeks after the Preakness Stakes.
The three American Classic Races are collectively known as the U.S. Triple Crown. Only 11 horses have ever won all three races.​
